WHAT IS A NAZARENE?
The Church of the Nazarene is a Protestant Christian church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. Nazarenes are compassionate people who meet needs and share God’s love locally and around the world. At Kokomo First, we describe ourselves as “one big family.” Our hearts and doors are open to everyone.

WHAT DO NAZARENES BELIEVE?
Jesus is Lord, and he offers us forgiveness of sins through his death and resurrection. God loves us, and desires relationship with us. He wants to cleanse our hearts of sin and make us holy. See our official statement of belief below.

WHAT IS THE CHURCH’S MISSION?
The mission of the global church is “to make Christ-like disciples in the nations.” Locally, the mission of Kokomo First Nazarene is to be “an epicenter of Christ-like community transforming our world.”

WHAT IS THE CHURCH’S HISTORY?

The denomination is more than 100 years old. Kokomo First Nazarene started in 1921 with a small group of believers in a commercial building. Our congregation has grown to about 1,200 people who worship together in a newly-expanded facility.

WE BELIEVE in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

WE BELIEVE that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

WE BELIEVE that man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.

WE BELIEVE that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.

WE BELIEVE that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.

WE BELIEVE that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the LordJesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

WE BELIEVE that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
